Goal: Uphold the brand guidelines of major company while elevating their work.
Duration: 6 weeks

Working with an established client with an uncompromising brand book can sometimes be frustrating. In these situations, I find it’s better to focus on how I can elevate the client’s brand. I focused first on their email templates.

TD Ameritrade’s isometric icon style was rolled out before I joined the project. When new collateral was needed, I was tasked with creating additional icons. During the process, I doubled the number of icons in their library and refined many of the existing ones.

Much of their business collateral was focused on educating and supporting their registered investment advisors (RIAs). This meant creating comprehensive training materials that were not only informative, but beautiful to look at.

Sometimes the only reference material I had was a 25 page spreadsheet. It may not seem like the most glamorous work, but it’s still a design problem like any other. My goal was to make something complicated look effortless.

Presentations were a particular challenge. I’m not sure anyone really loves PowerPoint, but I did my best to make slides explaining how to ‘create a user ID and password’ attractive and engaging.
